Fire

This sight always gives me a sick inside feeling, it's that time of year when some farmers burn the mountain. It's a very controversial issue and my own experience of a fire that was started on the mountain near my home was that I lost all my fencing and many young and maturing trees. It was also distressing to see creatures like ground nesting birds, newly laid eggs, insects and small mammals perish. This fire was just outside Schull, firemen were working hard to put it out, they usually do if property is threatened, in this wind it will spread very quickly.
