Stansted Airport

This is a detail of the roof at the entranceway to Stansted Airport terminal building.

The Stansted terminal building, designed by Norman Foster and opened in 1991, apparently resembles a stylised swan in flight. Well, I can't say I've ever noticed that but I would say that it is a consistently clean and reliable airport. The wonderful Fascinating Aid were rather rude about it in their song "Cheap Flights" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAg0lUYHHFc) but it is considerably more pleasant than the nearby Luton Airport - here's hoping that the airport will not go downhill now that BAA has been forced to sell it off.

Anyway, back to the picture. What caught my eye was the graceful curve of the steel structure as it expanded to provide an entrance area to the building. There is a certain elegance about the radius being picked out by the metal poles. It just looked nice!
