Well, the snow has come after all!

The projected storm didn’t start arriving here until about 8pm. And thank heavens no wind.
We spent the day battening down the hatches. As much wood in as we could manage. Discovered the chimney chute was totally full, so outside on my hands and knees emptying it. Our fireplace is on the upper floor, and there’s a handy little hole at the back to shovel the ashes into. Except of course at some point the whole chute has to be emptied .
