Black Peas
Black peas are a food that I associate with Bonfire night and cold winter evenings. I decided to make some myself at home, and ended up ordering a 5kg bag of the Carlin/'Black Badger Peas' needed to make them as it was much cheaper to buy in bulk. They are soaked, boiled up and served with lots of salt and vinegar. Traditionally this would be malt vinager - but as it has barley in (so it's not gluten free) I used a different sort.
It's quite hard to try and get a picture where these look appealing, but they really are delicious!
