Remember to Look Up

I had a rare visit to the local town this morning to pay in a cheque from HMRC.  Always a pleasure when you receive something from the Government!

I'm always telling myself to look up when in town.  The buildings, while initially looking like any typical High Street with their gaudy branding and large glass spaces at ground level, often hide gems in plain sight above the eye line.

I've walked passed this store for nearly 40 years and never noticed these two paintings, each within it's own Alcove.  Although it is difficult from the images, both are of monks/friars, one eating and the other drinking.  It suggests a former tavern in this building rather than a shrine to quick food.
