A lovely day at Hobson Bay
These little baches are now abandoned. They were built without buying the land, just made out of the caves in the cliff, and under the overhang. After the earthquakes they were unsafe. Before that they had no sewerage, and toilet contents were just buried at low tide in the sand. Obviously as the population grew this was completely unsuitable. They are also at risk from storms.
