All the things

So today I woke up to an overcast kinda day, snow was in the air for sure.  Visiting my brother on the western slope of Colorado, everything looks so different to me over here.  Really it is the same elevation that I live at on the eastern side but my brother is surrounded by these bluffs.  Today is mostly about the wildlife.  The photo I chose as my main is a fox of two colors!  The front half is red but the back quarters and tail are all black, not something one sees every day at all.  In the extras I'm going to post three, the first is a SMALL portion of a herd of elk that bounced across the road in front of me after jumping a fence line.  I chose and action shot, but everyone should know that the oldest cow of the heard led them across the road.  Pretty typical behavior, the old cows lead the herd to the appropriate grazing land for the different times of the year.  This heard had about 50 head in it with a handful of spike bulls, nothing of any size.  The second extra isn't a great overall shot but great content, in the foreground is a deer and in the background you can see part of a group of turkeys.  Even the deer wasn't on it's own, there were about 5 buddies around in the brush, this one just happened to line up with the turkeys at the appropriate time.  The elk are the only animal shot NOT taken from my hotel window which I find kinda amazing.  The final extra is some of the bluffy terrain in the area, tomorrow I'll try and get a few more landscape shots.

The day did bring snow and overall we got about 3 inches over here.  I'm hoping the sun shines a bit tomorrow so I can get the true feeling of the bluffs in the area.  I know there are also bald eagles along the river so maybe I'll luck out and catch some photos of those tomorrow!
