New/Old Locomotive on the DSNNRR
I was working on the lumber mill glueing away and I heard a new whistle down the track. Went down stairs and just caught the new loco running light on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It was purchased used, from the White Pass and Yukon Route in Skagway, Alaska. It rode a barge down to Seattle and then across country on a flatbed. Got here several months ago for a thorough fit-up which took a lot of time. This was my first sighting. At least they got the Herald on the side. Not sure about the color as that is how it came.
This loco will pull the passenger trains in the summer when it is too dry and the fire danger is too high for coal fired locos. It will run as well as the two K-36 steamers (#496 is done now) that are being converted to oil fired.
