Camouflage

I've been on an unsuccessful search for owls, but am not terribly disappointed when I discover a handsome  hawk instead.  This red-tailed was changing locations so I knew where to search, but it's no surprise that they can be difficult to spot given Mother Nature's camouflage.  I know to look for an object that is vertical on all of those horizontal limbs (especially in the winter), which is a strategy pointed out by the owl identification expert.  It seems rather obvious, but I find it really works.  This hawk eventually noticed me and moved on.

I should add a thank you for the lovely comments on my sparrows recently.  The fall colors and lighting really help the images.
Have a wonderful upcoming weekend!
