Clouds Over Meadowbank
Hurrah, hurrah. Great relief this morning to wake to a cloudy sky rather than the interminably blue ones. But our relief was short-lived in that this South-East change in the weather turned out to be a dry one in our part of Marlborough.
It looked a lot cloudier and more threatening up the Wairau Valley to the west, so I hope the land up there got a little rain.
This image is looking southwest from the track I was following The homestead surrounded by big pine trees in the far distance is "Meadowbank". The thin line of white and green that can be seen in the bottom part of the image is a vineyard with the vines covered in white netting to protect the grapes from birds.
Gas guns are booming every few minutes in the vineyards. The sound re-reverberates for quite a distance. This noise is meant to scare off birds but more often scares humans and dogs. My dogs are not fazed by the noise as they are not gun shy. However Fergus sometimes looks a bit subdued when he hears big bangs close by and tends to walk pretty close to me, nicely at heel.
