Dressing the tree

I had a bit of a panic last night as water started to come in through the wall of our basement. Fortunately it was draining into a soak away but filling fast. Even more fortunately the stream of water suddenly stopped. I phoned up the water authority and they offered to come straight away but I said the morning would be alright. They arrived at 8 am and found that the sewer in the street was blocked. It was cleared half an hour later so that was a good result. Having dealt with that, I collected a prescription and then went round to the church to assemble and dress the Christmas tree. It has been a dull, wet day so only a short walk was possible. I managed to get an appointment with a consultant dermatologist in a month’s time to look at a skin lesion the doctor thinks needs attention. That was good as I had imagined the wait would be much longer.
