Open Sesame!
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
There are things I love about house ownership. I bloody LOVE having a garage. It is like this whole secret special room because it doesn't have a car in it.
Instead it has lots of dull stuff. Gardening equipment, tools, Caro's bike and the laundry. But also exciting things. Boxes we haven't opened in AGES.
Whenever I go in there, it is like visiting Ali Baba's cave.
I also love having a cupboard under the stairs. I haven't had one of those since I was a kid. We had one in Wreyfield Drive in Scarborough when I was little and I liked to go in there with my projector and slides, sitting on top of the vacuum cleaner. I think I was about seven.
But then Bonnie the cat appeared. She was a stray and my mum had been feeding her. Around November 5th, my mum opened the back door to her and she SHOT in the house with something in her mouth and ran straight to the cupboard under the stairs. She had decided she was going to come and live with us, and had brought her kittens with her!
"Don't tell your father," said my mum.
So from then on, the cupboard under the stairs was off-limits. But that was a great kitteny Christmas. Dad eventually found out and we kids got to play with the kittens up to the New Year when sadly, they were given to new families.
Cats love dark, quiet places, and as you can see Jasper has also decided to make the cupboard under the stairs his home. He looks so happy and so peaceful in there.
I wonder if I should keep him company by sitting on the vacuum cleaner with my projector?
S.
