Unsettled in DC
A morning in DC, an hour+ from home, and all I have to show is a picture snapped through the windshield as I waited at a red light. I tried a new way into the city and had an unexpected detour through the edge of Georgetown. Very festive though, and I was quite early, so that was fine. After my appointment I drove as close as I could get to the White House. Fencing plastered with protest posters blocked my view, but I was glad to get a glimpse of Black Lives Matter Plaza. What surprised me was how many windows are still boarded up, including those of government buildings. A grim sight. I couldn't find a parking spot, and got diverted from further searching by a motorcade (probably Trump returning from playing golf out in Loudoun County). So I drove home.
I'd like to return and walk with W, to revisit areas I once knew well but looked a bit less familiar today.
Had a lovely hour of piano with Janessa and a virtual parents night this evening with the high school teachers.
