Foggy and cold
It was another very cold and foggy day. We seem to be having quite a few foggy days this winter, and not so many frosty ones but maybe those will occur more in January. It was very cold this morning at 2C, so Xen had her coat on for her dog walk and she was still shivering until she had run around a bit and warmed up.
After the walk I went to do the usual beginning of week grocery shopping - a full trolley with more of the family home again.
We have 'something' living in the ceiling between the ground floor and the first floor of the house. When it scurries along it is so loud it sounds like a large animal living up there, and Xena goes crazy when she hears it. So today I called out a pest control company who thinks it is more likely to be squirrels rather than rats, which are worse apparently as they are more destructive eating through wiring etc. He has set a trap with peanut butter for the squirrel and a bait box for the rat and we wait to see what happens.....He was a very nice man but totally hopeless, he came quite unprepared and had no ladder or screw driver or scissors...all the tools he needed...and they charge a small fortune for this very basic method. He had no idea about social distancing and I had to keep stepping back. Plus he walked in with his muddy boots on just after the floor had been washed. Gavin will now have to look up through the trap door every few days to see if a squirrel is there and then remove it, as we obviously cannot have it trapped up there forever.
Camera Club again tonight, our last competition for the year and this time we had a theme of 'nature'. I need to make supper early so that I can eat before it starts and the others can eat when it suits them.
