...on how to save a life
leave it to a duck - to bring about deep thoughts - then again, my thoughts have been - running deep over these last - months as my journal will attest to - blame it on covid - blame it on the election year - or the stupidity of the people - who live here which i fail to understand - blame it on all of those things - truth of the matter - is that i can’t run from - the current news any longer - i used to not watch it - remain uninformed but then i was just - as ignorant but i am no fool - not with national numbers soaring - with over 2,000 deaths daily
my almost breaking point came - the other day when the - channel i was watching profiled - the passing of an individual who’d had covid - they do this daily - hoping it has an impact on people - towards the positive, if you will - so they will be inclined then - to begin wearing a face covering for protection - my ears perked up when they mentioned her age - 15 years old - let me say that again - 15! - i balked then paid closer attention - this little girl had - had down syndrome and her story - tugged my heart because - i spent over 25 years working with developmentally disabled individuals - helping them achieve independence, many of whom had downs - so i found myself sobbing at this senseless death - that perhaps because someone hadn’t - worn a face covering for protection - she became infected - lost her life through no fault of her own - is unacceptable to me - she wasn’t an adult - just a child - this virus is killing children - scripture tells us
by this we know what love is: jesus laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
1 john 3:16
this is a wonderful example - of how to live my life as - a christ follower everyday - thinking of others, my fellow man - my neighbors and helping to protect them - being selfless not selfish in life - i cannot say it enough - wearing a mask isn’t political - it is for your own health - and the health and healing of others - it’s like practicing your - ‘do a good deed’ for the day act - and to save a life - make that your mantra - before heading out - the door now - and perhaps it’ll be easier - to face your tasks
something’s got to give - not only nationwide but - worldwide as well so we can all - begin the shift towards - a more hopeful new year - full of promise and new beginnings - so make wearing a face covering - your good deed mantra and together we can not only save a life - we can make it...
a
happy day.....
