Weather eye
It’s been a very wet weekend with plenty of snow in the north east. The Brennero pass was closed, the Moses flood barrier was raised on the Venetian lagoon, serious flooding spilled out near Modena (it wasn’t balsamic vinegar). The Arno rose three metres at the Uffizi monitoring station but Tuscany seems to have been spared the worst.
The wind careened around the house last night and another two inches of rain fell. The heating is very welcome but we still had the wood stove burning as we’ve so much wood to burn.
Chicken with spuds, calabrese and red cabbage from the garden. Gorgonzola to finish. A heavy Cabernet Franc from Arezzo to keep the damp out.
Bracing for what the new week brings.
