Monarch of the glen
As far as I can remember I've only blipped this oak tree once before, which is surprising. Other than plane trees, it's unusual to see such a tall, un-windblown deciduous tree around here, in fact this is the only one within sight of the village. It's also the only one that still has most of its leaves. It looks rather splendid in the afternoon sunshine, standing out against ther brown landscape.
We went out around the same time as my walk yesterday, in the hope of maybe seeing more starlings, but it was too windy I think. We hardly saw a bird at all. We didn't go far as the wind-chill was strong.
Yesterday evening, after the not too impressive online concert, we got distracted by two episodes of Detectorists ... yes, you were all right that once you are familiar with the characters it gets rather addictive! Particularly enjoying Andy and Becky. Then we just caught the end of an excellent live Youtube session with Oxford guitarists Pete Oxley and Nicolas Meier. It's part of a free, 12-day online guitar festival organised by Nicolas. Programme here, just click the Youtube links at, or after, the appropriate time. Quality of the acts may be variable!
