Dogs, stones, castles and ferries

An absolutely wonderful day in Oban today. We thought we'd take a picnic and sit somewhere in the sun looking out over the sea, but there was quite a frost and the drive looked a bit slippery so we went for a two hour walk instead.
 
This time we walked down to the Corran Halls and along the path at the edge of Dunollie Woods, known locally as The Witches, returning along the Ganavan Road and back home though the town. Glorious sunshine and a pure blue sky. My Blip today is of the ruined keep of Dunollie Castle on its crag with the side of the Dog Stone to the left of the picture. The Dog stone is a former sea stack – the sea was much higher here at some point in the past – which was joined to the coastal cliffs by an arch. I’ve put a picture of the Dog Stone on as an extra.
 
As we returned along the road the ‘Hebridean Isles’ came out of the bay and the ‘Isle of Lewis’ came in, so that’s an extra too for the boat buffs!
