Old stomping grounds
On my way to catching the bus earlier this morning I couldn't resist walking past the road I used to work on.
This is the coffee shop next to my old office. I loved stopping in here, Monteriva is one of my favourite coffees roasters. This is also where I learned to Tango. Sadly they no longer do Tango, and the coffee is not as good as it used to be when our office was next door.
The tango story is a little unusual for me. On one of my coffee breaks I asked the owner about the tango (he was also a photographer and his walls were covered with dance photos). Much to my surprise he came out from the behind the counter, rolled up the large rug, put on some music and started showing me how to tango. He was a giant of a man, with huge feet and hands, but whisked me around the floor. His introduction had me signing up to take the next class (which I loved).
He was the sort of man who didn't just walk down the road, he danced. I used to watch and marvel at his presence as he glided along. I'm sorry that he's not there anymore. I don't know where he is but one thing I know, he's still dancing.
