Seen on a local bus stop, I was intrigued, then amazed at Historic England’s advert when I read the small print.
King Street in the centre of town once housed the largest and most elegant Dance Halls and Cinemas in a variety of architectural styles, but it has long since gained notoriety as the ‘club capital’ of the North West. Seedy springs to mind.
Between the various nightclubs have also come the late night fast food outlets, and on Sunday mornings, the litter and stale booze smells make it a place to avoid.
