It’s all the dance parties

Every year the users of Spotify receive an email telling them the statistics of the music they listened to over the past year. Mine came today.

I opened it because I was curious to see what my favorite music was throughout the past year. I was somewhat surprised by the selection as I don’t know much Kidz Bop music.

And then I remembered when the granddaughters were here. They liked to tell Alexa to play their favorite music which was Kidz Bop. It would seem that they liked it so much that very quickly it became my most listened to music of the year. It made me smile.

When our children were toddlers and we would go to visit my parents who lived very far away, my mother wouldn’t wash The windows for months afterwards. She said she could still see the little fingerprints on the windows and she would never wash those things off. Even the fingerprints were precious to her.

Perhaps this is a similar deal. The girls were in our lives in ways that affected our musical selections for the year. No I’m not gonna start listening to Kidz Bop, but it does make me smile and it makes me remember their excitement and enthusiasm for instant dance parties.

It would seem that I miss them.
