'A Storm at Last'
In more than one way too.
This afternoon the heavens finally opened up on us, but not just a little rain, but a mighty downpour accompanied by lots of lightening and thunder. Very humid day today too.
When I arrived home with Bella tonight, Mrs RW and Dylan were sitting downstairs with the baby chicks (not so little any more - 7 weeks old now) holding them and drying them in towels. 'What's happened hun' I said. The three of them had escaped their enclosure, probably due to the thunder and massive downpour and one of them got stuck between our wire side fence and the lattice screen to the chicken free range enclosure. It has suffered a massive cut on the back of it's neck and seemed clearly in shock when I arrived home. Mrs RW held it in a towel for about half an hour, hoping it would survive. Anyway it seemed to snap out of the shock after a while, fingers crossed that there isn't any major damage and that it doesn't get an infection. Just have to wait and see now, poor little thing.
Here is Bella comforting and drying off one of the other chicks who got very wet in the rain. More forecast during the night, why can't we just have some normal rain without the angry aggression??
