Monks Again!
It's getting to be a habit. Regular blippers will recognize the allusion to my recent blip at the Belgianfest.
I had a bottle of this sitting in my fridge, waiting for an opportune moment to try it. It's one of the Ovila® Abbey Ales -- a series of Belgian-inspired beers brewed by Sierra Nevada, in collaboration with the monks at the Abbey of New Clairvaux in Vina, CA. One of the ingredients is plums grown at the abbey.
Yesterday morning, I received an email with a rave review of the beer, from Michael the Beerman. It sounded like something I would really enjoy. He's got a good track record with his recommendations, so when we stopped at the Food Co-op to buy bread, on our way home after Cynthia's birthday dinner, I bought a four-pack.
I opened one when we got home. Michael was right again!
