Starlings

.......doing their wonderful murmuration as dusk approaches.
This is at Wigan Local Nature Reserve, an area just outside the town centre, formed by mining subsidence that created Flashes (lakes), and a vast area of former power stations, railway lines and coal mining pits, now a green haven for wildlife.
The image shows a new bridge and road on the footprint of a former railway line, crossing the Leeds/Liverpool canal Leigh Branch.
Many sceptical locals said it would 'scare away' the wildlife, but it's one of the finest areas to see local and migrating birds in Lancashire now.
One of my favourite places to visit!!
