Glen Helen Nature Preserve

It was a chilly start with a hard frost, but lots of sunshine most of the day. This morning, Roger got the upper set of Christmas lights up on the outside of the house, with my assistance in moving the ladder. We really wanted to get that done today, as the rest of the week is going to be colder, with some snow in the forecast for tomorrow! After another coffee, we set off to Yellow Springs Ohio for the afternoon, specifically the nearby Glen Helen Nature Preserve. We had visited once many years ago - 2009 in fact- but for some reason had never gone back, even though we have visited nearby JohnBryan State Park and Clifton Gorge many times. We had thought of going earlier in the year, but discovered they were closed for a prolonged period. The Preserve was owned and run by the adjacent Antioch College, and during Covid times they couldn’t afford to staff it. Apparently it is now under new ownership - the Glen Helen Association.The spring in the top left of my collage is what gives the town of Yellow Springs it’s name, though personally I would call it orange! We had an enjoyable hike, getting in my 10,000 steps and taking several photographs
Today is the first Sunday in Advent, and so I’m going to finish with some of the words from one of my favourite Advent hymns
