Cumulus praecipitatio

So many places on the Black Isle,  you can see for miles. I’m forever going “look at that sky” in rhapsodical tones. So Mrs F bought me a book on clouds for my birthday.

Cloud names have a taxonomy all of their own, though as soon as you look at it you can see it’s Latin names for the blindingly obvious, So cumulus, for example, is a white, fluffy cloud often having a flat base. Water vapour accumulates into cumulus, dur! And praecipitatio means it’s raining.

Underneath, if you look carefully, you might notice a ship and an oil rig in for refit. I can hear my mother’s voice from long ago. “Turn those lights off! Think of the electricity you’re wasting!”
