Camberwell Beauty

This building, the Passmore Edwards library, Bath and washhouse,  can be found on the far western edge of Burgess Park, South London. It has been the subject of consultations for almost five years as to what to do with it.

The building opened in 1903 and had been built to improve the health and leisure of local working people at this time many houses lacked bathrooms, clothes washing facilities and books.

The Camberwell Beauty butterfly was the trademark of local stationers Samuel Jones & Co. the Royal Doulton Tiles were moved to here in 1992 when the factory was demolished.
