The northern northern lights
This morning we awoke to a lovely clear day shortly before crossing the arctic circle; the scenery was just amazing. I had a soak in the outdoor hot tub; -5 ºC air temperature, but a toasty 37 ºC in the water. The day remained clear and in the evening, when the boat docked in Svolvær, we were treated to a brief, but intense display of the aurora borealis. Having seen them a few times in Scotland, I was very impressed seeing them this far north and the difference in size across the sky. A faint display remained most of the night, but I called it a night just after midnight as I was starting to get really cold.
