Herdwick Lamb

A little maintenance on the verandah at the Lodge and on the way home we made a slight detour.  I had intended to do a landscape shot but this Herdwick Lamb won the day.   The mountains won't go anywhere sheep move about.

For those not familiar with the breed they are born with white faces and black fleece.  As they age the fleeces lightens.  So an experienced eye can roughly age the animal by the colour of the fleece.

This lamb was probably born up on the fells and has been brought down to lower ground for the winter.
