Ollie
The beautiful owls were back in our market today from The Owl Experience . This is Ollie an African Spotted Eagle Owl. Mollie, the Barn Owl was there being her entertaining self and regurgitating her digested pellet with aplomb. When released from her tethers she was glad to be sitting on her owner's shoulder inside the market awning instead of standing on her outside perch on this bitterly cold day. She was eyeing up her owner's lunch hoping it was mouse pie but decided, on reflection, that fish 'n' chips weren't really her thing!
I noted the absence of Ronnie, the large and very beautiful European Eagle Owl and asked where he was. His owner told me that very sadly Ronnie had been badly scared by a young guy at an event which made him break his tethers and fly away, never to be seen again.
I know we would all rather see these magnificent birds in their natural habitat but when I speak to the people from TOE and I hear them talking to others, I am pleased to know that they are so knowledgeable about their charges and keen to pass on their knowledge to everyone, especially the children.
Where did that nice weather go from yesterday with the blue sky and sunshine?
