Happy Friday

Back on the canal this afternoon for a walk and catch up with my friend.

Walking along towards the Five Rise Locks in Bingley I was busy looking out for the Heron spotted yesterday. There was something bright blue on a branch above the water, was it plastic or could it really be a Kingfisher! It was and it didn’t seem in any hurry to move. I’ve seen flashes of blue as they fly past along the canal but not one so apparently content to just sit there before.

Really thrilled to get this shot with my zoom lens. I did zoom further but those shots were less crisp. We were reluctant to move on but eventually walked on the the bottom of the locks. Looking back we couldn’t see then tell tale blue reflection in the water so it must have flown off. 
We continued as far as the canal bridge over the East Morton road before returning for a cuppa at the 5 Rise cafe. We sat watching the sun go down over the St Ives estate having a nice chat. A much better day than the forecast fog.
