London Two, Kent Three

Will now be stuck in two different tiers as of the 2nd December, and it's all so confusing. London, of course, has been put in Tier 2 (it was never, ever going to be in Tier 3) but Kent has been kicked into Tier 3 all because two boroughs (Swale & Thanet) have very high rates of infection yet the borough of Kent I live in is below the national average. London, on the other hand, has eleven boroughs in the high category yet has been allowed into Tier 2 - go figure!
For work, I will be in Tier 2 but at home I will be in Tier 3. I can move between Tier 3 and Tier 2 for work but not for pleasure and I cannot stay overnight. I'm now also discouraged from travelling to anywhere else within Tier 3. The hospitality industry in Kent didn't really have inkling we were heading for the dreaded Tier 3 and it's now going to be decimated in the run up to Christmas. What astounds me is all the evidence of rising infection rates in Swale and Thanet have been known about for weeks but hardly anything was done to reduce it - if it had been the glorious, omnipotent London something would have been done much sooner. It all feels like a massive kick in the bollocks. I took today's image to try to reflect how disconcering it all feels. All of us in Tier 3 are now in for a tough old time. I think the centralisation of this policy has been an unmitigated disaster and caused much needless personal and economic distress that could have been avoided if local authorities and city mayors had been included in the plan much more closely.
Extra is called "Your Portal To The Future" - I really liked the mixture of the everyday and the surreal.
