Tunnels
Walk down by the canal this morning before the rain. These two old tunnels are part of the old mining system where the barges used to go through to get to the coal mine. There are 46 miles of underground tunnels
built by the various Dukes of Bridgewater to transport coal from the coalmine. The nearby tunnel is 7 miles long and the bargees had to lie on their backs in places where the tunnels were so low and pull the barges along by handles in the roof of the tunnel. Anyway a good walk and home for breakfast and probably get some gardening done when it stops raining.
