Holyhead, penrhos beach, mild and sunny. Dog was very happy after our 05.00 departure. It felt very odd to be out driving again, the roads appeared to be as busy as normal, no sign of lockdown really.
The ferry was a good decision in respect of trying not to be in the same place as others, it was almost empty of cars, maybe 20 ? Lots of lorries but I was on before them. Cabin and ensuite immaculately clean , comfy bed, quiet and v restful .
Long 6 hr drive , a warning light came on in the car outside of Cambridge - eeek. I stopped , looked under the bonnet ( I know nothing about modern cars ) sat in the car for 10 mins having a think ,googled the nearest open garage , Left a 2 minute voice msg to Hubs who was at work and unavailable in Ireland (!!) , started it and tad-dah - gone !! Thank god !!
Made it to Danbury at 19.30 , knocked on the door , went in for a moments hesitation before mum and dad and I all had a marvellous reunion hug. All just really happy. Cuppa, Dinner, Chat, playing with the dog - all felt so normally wonderful like the last 11 months had never separated us.
Uncle S has rallied but I’m not allowed to see him , but we are going to see if we can get him home for home hospice care as he’s desperate to see the family.
Had a gentle ‘dog down the road’ night time walk with dad and Basil. That was a real treat too.
