Dreams
I wandered a bit further down into Hyde Park during my lunchtime walk from work today.
I think this piece is from the same street artist (Marra) who did the David in a Mask stencil that I shared a couple of weeks ago. It took me a while to put some meaning to this one. For me it’s a commentary on the recent, widely ridiculed UK government advertising campaign suggesting a ballerina should retrain for a career in cyber. Arts and creative work are deemed non-essential in this economic crisis moment; dreams don’t pay the rent or put food on the table.
I didn’t notice at the time, but if you study the brickwork you’ll find a bonus ghost door. And a Black Lives Matter tag among the signatures.
