Ferrymead Bridge

Earthquake strengthening work had begun on this bridge before the event of 4 September 2010, and we laughed to ourselves that no damage was done in that earthquake. And then the rest of the earthquakes came (all of them, I hope).

Now temporary bridges have been erected on each side to take the traffic while the bridge is demolished and rebuilt.

My Dad remembers the first bridge, the one being demolished here is the second. He hopes to live to see the third.
