Biodiverse Berms

I was very uplifted to see the introduction of berms to sections of the River Greet this morning. My friend who used to chair (I think)  the Trent Valley Internal Drainage Board, confirmed their purpose was to assist wildlife, as the foliage grows back. In a more natural state many fowl including ducks, swans and kingfishers habit the watercourses. Cranes and seagulls still currently remain.

I'm more familiar as a MTB (mountain bike) term for banked bends in an earthen track.
