Seagulls, sandpiper or sandfidller

I really don't know what bird is this, but there were hundreds today and they were so cool.  I don't think I have ever seen these many on the beach all together like this (extra).  It was a pleasant day today, slightly cloudy but when the sun was out, it was warm.
