Bird Life
Interesting wildlife walk along the beach, despite all the people out for a Sunday afternoon stroll or swim in the sea. First off was this guy, close to the foot of Bath Street - a Long Tailed Duck. Not the first I have seen at Porty but relatively unusual. Then I saw a Sandwich Tern - the latest yet I have seen one. Perhaps the same one from a few weeks ago? On my way back I saw a bird diving offshore that wasn't quite the right shape to be another cormorant. Sure enough, through the binoculars it was a Red Throated Diver - only the second I have seen at Porty. Not as close in as the last one so no picture this time. And while I was scanning the waves to see if I could see it again, I saw a seal pop its head out of the water. Almost as if it was investigating the swimmers. All in all, a good little nature walk!
