Oxford
Freshers parents lunch. A great idea to get parents of freshers to have lunch with each other and meet the tutors. It was great meeting other bereftparents and the lunch was pretty nice too. Though hearing spoken latin for grace was a bit of a first.
The tutors were all very interesting. One was married to a 'Hostage Negotiator' and said he dreads it if she is home early from work as it probably means she is off to somewhere hot and dangerous for weeks or even months.
Afterwards we went for a coffee and a wander round Oxford with some of the other parents. Parking is horrendous in Oxford. In fact it is probably cheaper to get a room in a travelodge than park centrally for the day. Hence bikes are common and traffic problems few. We took the travelodge and park and ride option which was practical and cheap at least. Later we met Amy and took her and her sister for dinner at Wagamamas that evening.
Ellie stayed with her sister and went to 'The Bop' while Steve and I failed to get a ticket for Django Unchained and ended up going back to our hotel with a bottle of wine.
