DESCANSO GARDENS

Southern California is know for Hollywood, great weather, crushing traffic & wildfires;
but it should be a destination for its world class gardens.  

Today, a friend & I visited The DESCANSO GARDENS in La Canada Flintridge.  It is a unique 150 acre landscape known for its huge collection of CAMELLIAS, that bloom many months of the year, beginning in October.  

It’s large forested area that shades the CAMELLIAS reminds me of Michigan; but instead of pine & hardwood trees, there are many stately redwoods.  There are a variety of other areas, including a Japanese garden & a rose garden.

It was the most perfect, sunny day possible, & we both enjoyed our visit.  Even though we wore a mask, it felt like “the old days” before COVID-19.
My friend found the flower in my Blip & gently put it in the notch of
this pink CAMELLIA.  It need up being the most beautiful of all.
