The Breathing Method

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I apologise for not blipping daily lately. What you may not know about me is that I can get a bit obsessive. And it really does not matter what the object of my obsession is; it can be a tv show or a diverting computer game.

But I am quite tunnel-vision in my tasks and things like keeping up with Blip can fall to the wayside.

I do try to remember to do it every second day. That's the idea.

Of course, of late it's been the podcast which drags away my attention. This doesn't happen every time, only if I think it's going to turn out well. The last episode, quite honestly, I got bored with quickly and just sort of churned it out. But the one prior to that, I got really excited about and it consumed about four days where I resented any sort of interruption.

I'm not sure how the new episode is going to turn out yet. I hope it will be fun. I'm now done writing it and reading it and now have the horrible job of editing it.

There is nothing like editing a podcast episode to make you realise just how much you BREATHE.

I can see it. Every breath, on the waveform (or whatever you call it) that displays on the editing software. If the thin, straight line that runs across the middle of the screen turns THICK - that's me going "aaaaaaaaaaaa" before launching into the next sentence.

And at first you think, "I hate it! I hate the sound of my own breathing!" and you REMOVE it all.

But then you listen to it back anditsoundslikethiswithnogapsanditsquitestressful.

So I then edit SILENCE back in again. It is possible I go over the top.

This week's editing is going to be horrific because I had terrible hayfever yesterday. When you listen to the episode you may be able to tell but I hope not. Today, the inside of my nose feels very sore. Like I've had rough nostril-sex with a pervert.

But at least once the editing is done (in a day or two) I can start doing the fun bits. Adding all the music and effects. This episode I'm not going to go too mad, but I will be able to add a new segment called, "Bollywood Break" where I talk about Bollywood star John Abraham.

Auslaender and Munni - did you know he starred in an Indian adaptation of a Stephen King story called "No Smoking"?

I'm sure you do. Of course you do. Anyway, so I watched that yesterday morning. And I thought of you both.

Well, in between breathing and sneezing, I did.

S.
