Wild Geese
A trip to the North this morning, in torrential rain to the Glasgow Science park in Kelvinside. The weather put my plans to look for the parakeets on hold. Synexus are running a COVID vaccine stage 3 trial on behalf of Novovax, things must looking promising because the UK government has pre purchased £60m worth.
On return to the South and needing to go to the post office I parked the car close to Queens Park where I found this blip. Its part of the Rose Garden’s celebration of Scottish Poets, a bit of mixture, and I suspect somewhat controversial since many appear commemorated on the litter bins that the dot the perimeter. I choose Violet Jacob pretty much at random and subsequently found out that she wrote, what I know as a song, The Wild Geese. It’s a conversation with the North Wind about the longing for home. My favourite is Jean Redpath’s rendition, I’ve posted a link and its worth a listen. If I could sing, properly I mean, I would like to sound like that.
A later than usual lunch and then another relaxing drawing workshop with Ricefield Arts and Cutural Centre. Appropriately enough it was robins today.
