Girl Power!
I spent all day in the attic room again, sewing and listening to Woman's Hour podcasts. The episodes I heard today were about the Woman's Hour Power Lists - about women who have made positive contributions to our environment and the health of our country and the planet. These women are so inspiring and successful and yet are rarely mentioned on the news or in the mainstream media. They should be running the country - in fact the whole world!
The winner- I am pleased to hear - is Caroline Lucas - the leader of The Green Party. I always love listening to her being interviewed. She is fearless and articulate and will always confront the government about environmental issues and can fight her corner because she really knows her stuff.
Another woman on the list is Mya-Rose Craig who is passionate about birds, nature and the environment. She founded Black2Nature a group which encourages kids from ethnic communities to get out into nature and learn about the natural environment.
Rosamund Kissi-Debrah campaigns tirelessly for clean air after the tragic death of her young daughter from an asthma attack linked to high levels of pollution near their home in London.
Brenda Boardman introduced energy ratings to UK household appliances so people can make good environmental choices when they buy eg washing machines and fridges.
All the women on the list are changing things for the better for our and our children's, grandchildren's lives.

The programme about the plague last night was very interesting and part 2 is on tonight.
It rained most of the day so I was in the best place in the attic :-)
Goodnight - stay safe everyone. :-)
