Heron at dusk
A busy day including taking Alex to see the nurse (apparently my first-aid was excellent and she left the steristrips in place and just popped on a new dressing), food shopping, report writing and taking part in a Langdyke Trust Zoom call.
Just time to squeeze in an hour's walk round the Rowing Lake, though by the time I arrived the light had almost gone, so I adjusted the camera settings to do some in-camera movement shots, trying to wring some colour out of a very dark landscape.
I spotted this grey heron at the end of my walk, when it was nearly completely dark. Even though I was only a couple of metres away it didn't bother to fly away so I took a couple of shots, not really thinking I would get anything worthwhile. However, after a bit of faffing I quite liked this image, which has the feel of a Japanese painting.
