Company

Ever since Maija died, my loneliness has grown deeper. 

During her last weeks I didn't want to use the vacuum cleaner, nor the robot. She wasn't afraid of those, but cleaning in those days felt so futile.

Just the other day, I turned on the robot, and left it on behind the wall and sat down at my computer. What a surprise! The low buzzing sound and quiet bumps against furniture gave the illusion that there was a live being there with me. It amused me greatly.

This describes vividly how very lonely I am. At 86.
