A grey day...
Caledonian Omnibus Company of Dumfries was established in 1927 to serve the South West of Scotland. It operated into Carlise, the main town in it's sphere of influence. In 1948 the SMT group sold out to the British Transport Commission. Western SMT and Caledonian came under the same ownership and the two fleets were quickly merged. The double decker above, HSM643 was a Bristol K5G with an ECW body and was bought by Caledonian but before it could enter service it was loaned to London Transport to assist with post wartime vehicle shortages. By the time it was returned, Cally had been absorbed by Western SMT.
