this is a far as it goes

I feel sorry for the builders.  Almost as sorry as I feel for us residents.  What started out as a one week job will now take three.  We're now halfway through the second week.

There are three sizes of blocks; large, medium and small.  This is not some artistic whim - it's a matter of making best use of shapes and sizes to fit the space.  A delivery of blocks arrived yesterday comprising one lot of medium and two lots of small.  The supplier apologise of course - but cannot provide any more large ones until next week.  So work has ground to a halt.

The last section has been prepared with drainage channels and trenches for the various services and utilities that require laying underground.  These are all exposed, meaning that vehicle access to the site is now impossible.

It's an irritation for us - but we can manage another week or so shuffling the car around the various car-parks in town.  

It's a bit more than that for our new neighbours though.  Their house is now finished and they're scheduled to move in at the weekend.
