Haircut!

This morning we headed out in dubious weather to take Spike to the soccer field to chase his favorite toy around on the grass. We are both feeling the need to walk more. By the time we were half way there it was starting to rain and we turned around. By the time we got home it was raining quite hard and we were all wet. So much for good intentions....Complete changes of clothing were necessary except for Spike who chose to pop up on our bed and dry off on the bed covers...Ozzie probably had the right idea and stayed home on his bed.

Much as I like seeing the rain, it does seem to activate the smoky, charcoaly smells all around us. I have ordered a portable air purifier which is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Our 'brown wall' is definitely showing patches of new green growth amidst all the brown leaves which, unlike normal fall foliage show little inclination to fall. Our big front lawn, never a thing of manicured perfection, is beginning to turn from black to green. Changing it to something more waterwise was always something I wanted to do but an expensive prospect and rather low on the list. It will probably stay there for awhile.

I gave myself plenty of time to drive across town today and locate a new hairdresser's salon. It's a good thing I did since it was hidden away amongst a bunch of almost identical commercial buildings in an industrial park. It was still raining so I drove around several blocks of medical offices, technology companies and a large shuttered gym which I've heard about for years but never seen, before realizing that the even numbered buildings were across the street...

The wind and rain had ravaged my overgrown coiffure so that by the time I got there I just gave Gia carte blanche to do whatever she thought best. Her little dog Mushi, a papillon with big feathery ears and a very long tail* sat in my lap as she cut my hair. I've put a picture of Mushi in his color coded surroundings in extras.

My haircut was eye wateringly expensive, and somewhat alarming in the creation as Gia cut away with some abandon but I stayed the course and it was worth it. I felt that she created the cut as she went along. Now all I have to do is get used to it myself!
