The Back Of The Pond At The Back Of Beyond

For today's walk across the Levels we took a footpath we'd not tried before and weren't totally sure where it led. It eventually brought us out behind Walton Pond, which we actually pass on one of our regular bike rides and which I've previously blipped from the opposite side.

The pond is rather in the middle of nowhere so we were relieved that another path we'd never walked before, further up the road, did bring us back where we thought it might. It made for a very pleasant circular 5 mile walk. We didn't do much this afternoon though!

It's our daughter Kate's birthday today so she zoomed us when she got back from work so we could watch her, ably assisted by Sophie, open her presents as we couldn't be there in person, of course.

Despite her 5 mile walk, Tess is feeling far less tired and sore than she was 36 years ago!
